Have you ever wondered what makes people interested in the different avenues they pursue in life? Well, having worn "many hats" in my own life, my varied pursuits led me here. In my youth, I remember feeling invincible.  If I had an idea, what could possibly stand in my way? If I had a belief, I must be right. Now, like an echo, I can remember various people saying that "this or that" was not good for my health. But at that time, I passed it off as "maybe for THEM it is not good."

I have been a hairdresser for 34 years. (Really? It took me that long to listen?) I never felt concerned about the health warnings and bulletins put out about chemicals in our lives and workplaces. Then I met a lady that almost had complete liver failure from being a nail technician and not practicing proper safety methods for her own health and protection. When she explained how we, in the cosmetology field, breathe in these particles and how EVERYTHING is absorbed through our skin as well, I thought it was time to pay attention. 

So I began reading everything I found concerning this industry and the chemicals that we work with. I read about their impact on not only MY HEALTH, but the health of MY CLIENTS as well. (Did you know that hairdressers have a much higher rate of cancer, especially bladder cancer than other groups of people?)  Like a light bulb being switched on, or actually, more like a dam being breached, the flood of information became real to me for the first time.

In the course of my research, I came to understand about chemicals in our every day products as well, like cosmetics, body cleansers, lotions, bath products and cleaning supplies.  Instead of feeling like I wasted all that time since so long ago, I became invigorated! I realized that I could make a difference, at least from this point forward! So, I did my research, and rated the information as:

A. Sell everything I own, and raise vegatables on a farm, in the mountains with no electricty or running water except from streams and rivers, all the while never letting a chemical of any kind in or on my body.......OR........

B. Don't disappoint my ancestors that worked hard to get me born into the 20th century, but at least go back to using as many organic and natural products as possible.

Thus began my quest to change what I could, refrain from the things which I found out are truly poisonous, and continue to make changes in all aspects of my life to bring about a healthier lifestyle.   I even changed out my entire color line in the hair salon to use organic based haircolor!

Then, one day I realized....."Good Gosh! Could there be others out there like me? (I know...one of me is enough!) Do they need to know about organic and natural products?" Being in the beauty industry, I decided to focus on that aspect of "recovery." Thus, through a LOT of research by speaking with chemists, reading and searching for the balance, I created this web site, so YOU can also be....Reborn Organic.
